National Apprenticeship Week Forum & Job Fair 2025

The 2025 National Apprenticeship Week Forum and Job Fair was held at the Thomas R. Lane Apprenticeship Training Center (home of UA Local #403). Local students were able to interact with an advanced welding simulator, get hands-on with conduit bending, observe demonstrations, engage with apprentices in the trades, and hear from various speakers, including State Senator John Laird.

“Over the last three years the UA Local 403 has partnered with IBEW Local 639 and the Workforce Development Board to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week in San Luis Obispo. Each year public support and participation from our surrounding communities, schools and students has steadily grown. Our previous events have proved so successful that this year we added an evening event and awards ceremony hosted by The Central Coast Construction Trades where numerous local apprentices were recognized for outstanding performance. It is crucial to our local economy, as well as to the young people in our community, that we increase awareness and expand access to our local apprenticeship programs and the high road, head of household careers they represent,”

David Baldwin, Business Manager, Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 403.

Over 300 students, career counselors, community leaders, school administrators and local elected officials attended the local National Apprenticeship Week events in 2024, the Apprenticeship Forum & Job Fair and the Outstanding Apprenticeship Awards event.
